Julie is a highly experienced family law practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in legal advocacy across Queensland. Admitted as a barrister-at-law in 1999 and to the High Court of Australia shortly thereafter, she has built a career focused on resolving complex family law matters with a strategic, compassionate and outcomes-driven approach.
Her practice spans all areas of family law, including parenting arrangements, property settlements, binding financial agreements, divorce, de facto matters, maintenance, and domestic violence. Julie is also extensively experienced in alternative dispute resolution, having chaired mediations for over two decades and conducted arbitrations for more than 10 years.
She is nationally accredited as an arbitrator, mediator and family dispute resolution practitioner, and has long held appointments as an Independent Children’s Lawyer and Separate Representative—reflecting her strong commitment to prioritising the best interests of children.
Julie has also contributed to significant public sector work, including serving as Counsel Assisting in a major Crime and Corruption Commission inquiry into the misuse of confidential information relating to domestic violence victims.
In addition to her practice, Julie has held teaching roles at Bond University and currently serves on the Queensland Law Society’s Ethics Advisory and Professional Conduct Committees. She holds a Master of Laws from QUT, a Professional Certificate in Arbitration, and is accredited with AIFLAM.
